Morning prayers.
After your praise and worship this morning, we're going to add something else. Yesterday was the Fourth Sunday of Lent, Laetare Sunday. That means we're a lot closer to Easter than we were before, and just like the song we're practicing for our Easter concert, by Easter we will hear people saying "He is Risen"!
But wait, who is risen? (Jesus) Does risen mean he woke up, rose from his bed, and went to school? (No) What does it mean? (Jesus died for us and he came back). Wow, how could he do something like that? I mean, is that something everyone can do? (No) But Jesus can do this because He is...(the son of God - or God)
So what we're saying is that Jesus died for our sins and he came back to us. I wonder how come he died. Do you know the story of what happened? Today we're going to read about the Stations of the Cross and learn more about it.

Today is Monday
We are in the month of March.
We are in Lent.
Stations of the Cross
Draw and color a picture of what you think the Stations of the Cross is about.
Wash hands.
Grace before meals.
Lunch.
Grace after meals.
Let's take a deep breath in, deep breath out. Do twenty jumping jacks. Shake out your hands, legs, head, and your whole body. Let's begin.
Jesus went through quite a journey. How do you think he felt? What parts do you remember? Why do you think he went through all of that? How do you feel when your friend or cousin or brother or sister does something wrong and you get in trouble instead? Could you imagine getting in so much trouble when you didn't even do anything wrong? Jesus loves us so much he let himself be punished for the things we did wrong.
Today we think about how Jesus must have felt when Pontius Pilate decided Jesus was going to be punished. This means he was going to be hurt and people would be very mean to him even though he tried to help them. This is the First Station of the Cross. What comes after one? (Two). Now we look at the Second Station of the Cross. Jesus has to take up a very big wooden cross, imagine a cross so big, it's bigger than you and me. The soldiers hurt him very badly and he must be tired and hurting all over. He might be sad too. But he had to lift up that heavy cross and walk very far with it. Did he hit any of the people? (No) Did he bite them or kick them or say mean, angry things to them? (No) Color or draw your own version of these Stations, pictured below. Write (1) on the First Station and (2) on the Second Station.

Easter Joy
Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.
Then He set about His work,
That God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.
He could have saved Himself,
Calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.
Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.
Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.
So we live our lives for Jesus,
Think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.
